Kingston Youth Climate Council (KYCC)

Description:

Help the Kingston Frontenac Public Library’s goal to champion environmental accountability through empowering youth volunteers to take responsibility and action towards environmental education and promotion.

KYCC is open to any youth within the Kingston/Frontenac area with a desire to learn about environmental issues and how youth can support the cause through action and raising awareness.

What are the biggest challenges and wins?

Work/school/life balance is always a challenge in activism, but we’ve done really well having members represent themselves and the KYCC group in various environmental initiatives throughout the city.

What do you need most to be more effective at what you do?

Participants! We need people to be aware of our group and engage with it.  Volunteer hours can be signed for if that's something they are looking for!

How do you want to support or collaborate with other groups?

We are always open to community collaborations, particularly through cross promotion of events and initiatives as well as sharing resources.

Why do you fight for change?

Because we believe it’s a critical cause to maintain the health of our biodiverse community (not just humans) today and into the future.
